SOCOTEC: a web solution to put an end to double data entry between the field and the office
SOCOTEC manages its atmospheric emissions measurements with a single application, usable in the field and in the office. TCM has been developing and evolving it since 2017.
Replacing a tool that was slowing teams down
SOCOTEC, a major player in risk management
Since 2017, TCM (The Coding Machine), a custom software development agency based in Paris, has been developing a web application for SOCOTEC that manages atmospheric emissions measurements, from data entry in the field to reports in the office.
SOCOTEC is a major player in risk management and inspection. Its teams used a tool to manage atmospheric emissions measurements: preparing interventions, sending documents to field staff, generating reports.
This tool required multiple data entries and lacked intuitiveness.
SOCOTEC wanted to replace it with a more modern, more ergonomic and centralised solution. The goal: reduce double-entry errors and make field and office teams more productive.
Field and office, two uses to reconcile
Multiple data entries to eliminate
Repeated manual data entry was degrading the quality and reliability of information.
A dual context of use
Measurements are entered in the field, on mobile or tablet. Reports are generated and scheduled in the office, on a computer.
Documents that flow without friction
All the people involved in the same assignment needed to be able to exchange their documents easily.
One single application, from the field to the office
A single business application, from the field to the office
TCM delivered a unified business application. In practice, it is a web application that behaves like a mobile app in the field, and like classic desktop software on a computer.
Errors caused by double data entry between the field and the office have disappeared. Being more flexible, the technology has also reduced operating costs.
Document generation and planning
A module to produce documents and schedule interventions.
Field data entry tool
A business tool dedicated to entering the various measurements, directly in the field.
The real issue was double data entry. When a technician enters measurements in the field and the office finds everything without retyping anything, the tool is doing its job.
