Batribox, an eco-organisation for battery recycling

Why did Batribox call on TCM?

Batribox is an eco-organisation responsible for recycling used batteries. It had an old management tool that had become too expensive to maintain and lacked modularity. The need was to completely rebuild this tool to better manage all of its activity (collections, subcontractors, invoicing).

Three challenges for an in-depth redesign

Replacing a monolithic system

Moving from an ageing, costly system to a modern, modular and scalable solution.

Managing asynchronous processes

Handling complex flows such as waste pick-up requests.

Covering a wide range of business scopes

Meeting the needs of physical collection, invoicing and placing on the market.

9 years
of continuous collaboration with Batribox
5 separate deliverables deployed
1 additional module added since (event operations)

A modular platform to manage the entire business

A microservices architecture built to last

A high-performance, modular business application based on a microservices architecture, used daily by Batribox teams and their subcontractors.

Microservices architecture

A modular, scalable technical foundation.

Waste collection module

Asynchronous management of pick-up requests via RabbitMQ.

Invoicing module

APIs dedicated to invoicing.

Placing on the market module

A module dedicated to managing products placed on the market.

ElasticSearch search engine

Integration of a high-performance search engine

Your questions about business microservices architectures

What you need to know before rebuilding an ageing business application, with the example of the platform developed for Batribox.

You need to split the application by business scope, so that each module can evolve independently. This is the architecture built for Batribox since 2017.

A message queue such as RabbitMQ makes it possible to process requests in the background without blocking the user. This is the solution chosen for Batribox’s waste collection module.

TCM has been supporting Batribox since 2017, in PHP, Symfony, ElasticSearch and RabbitMQ.
