BS2BO: redesigning a high-performance web platform
TCM Lyon rebuilt the Best Seller To Box Office platform with Laravel and Nuxt.js to make it faster for visitors and make back-office work simpler for the BS2BO team.
BS2BO, a web platform for book-to-screen adaptation
Best Seller To Box Office brings publishers and audiovisual producers together around literary adaptation.
Why did BS2BO call on TCM?
Best Seller To Box Office (BS2BO) is an organisation dedicated to adapting books for the screen. It connects publishers, authors and film and TV producers, notably through its literary adaptation pavilion in Cannes. Its platform is the central tool of this activity: it showcases the works, supports exchanges between professionals and is managed day to day by the BS2BO team.
Redesigning the BS2BO web platform
BS2BO entrusted the redesign of this web platform to The Coding Machine’s Lyon office. The brief came down to one simple question: how can we optimise performance for users and improve the efficiency of the team at the same time?
Three challenges for the web platform redesign
The new platform had to reconcile speed for visitors with efficiency for the internal team.
Optimising performance
Delivering a fast, smooth web platform for visitors and professionals, on every page.
Improving team efficiency
Making everyday back-office tasks quicker and simpler for the BS2BO team.
Building a scalable foundation
Relying on modern, well-supported frameworks so the platform can keep evolving.
A modern web platform powered by Laravel and Nuxt.js
A decoupled architecture that serves both the public site and the back office.
The winning combo: Laravel + Nuxt.js
To meet these goals, TCM Lyon chose to separate the back end and the front end of the platform. Laravel, the leading PHP framework, powers the business logic, the data and the back office. Nuxt.js, built on Vue.js, drives the public interface with server-side rendering, which helps pages display quickly and stay easy for search engines to index.
This architecture lets each layer evolve independently and relies on technologies our teams use every day. Learn more about our Laravel development agency and our Nuxt.js development agency.

Optimised back office
Tools designed to save the BS2BO team time every day.
Complete redesign
A new technical foundation for the whole project.
The project's technologies
Two complementary frameworks for a fast, maintainable application.
Your questions about web platform redesigns
What to know before starting such a project, illustrated by the BS2BO project.
When a platform becomes hard to evolve, successive fixes tend to add complexity. A redesign lets you rebuild on a modern technical foundation, rethink the back office around how the team actually works and set up an architecture that can grow with the organisation.
Laravel provides a robust, well-documented PHP back end for business logic, data and APIs. Nuxt.js adds a high-performance Vue.js front end with server-side rendering, which is good for both speed and SEO. Together they form a reliable stack for content-rich sites with a demanding back office.
A redesign is the opportunity to start from users’ daily tasks: which actions are repeated, where time is lost, which screens are really needed. The back office is then designed around these workflows, so teams spend less time on manual operations.
