Getting out of technical debt without sacrificing SEO

A tailor-made travel specialist held back by a fragmented web ecosystem.

Cercle des Voyages, a tailor-made travel specialist

Since 2019, TCM (The Coding Machine), a custom software development agency based in Paris, has been supporting Cercle des Voyages in the redesign of its web ecosystem: 18 websites spread across 4 domain names have been brought together on a single platform.

Cercle des Voyages is an agency specialising in tailor-made trips to more than 125 countries.

At the outset, the agency needed to clear critical technical debt and stop the cannibalisation of its organic search rankings. It also wanted to embody a new brand image, far removed from the commoditisation of mass tourism.

Unifying without breaking anything

Bringing everything together without losing traffic or breaking what already existed.

18 websites, 4 domain names

Merging everything into a single platform without losing organic traffic.

A heterogeneous information system to interconnect

The new platform had to communicate with very different components of the information system.

Evolving without regressions

On an ecosystem of this size, every change had to be tested so as not to break anything on existing pages.

A centralised and immersive ecosystem

A centralised e-commerce platform, designed around the visitor experience.

A hybrid, cloud-hosted e-commerce platform

TCM built a hybrid, centralised e-commerce ecosystem. It relies on a high-availability cloud infrastructure and an asynchronous caching system.

On the visitor side, the interface is immersive and designed for the user experience.

Hybrid application platform

The single foundation that replaces the 18 legacy websites.

Immersive web interfaces

A UX/UI design co-created with the client in workshops.

Interconnection web services

Web services that connect the platform to Cercle des Voyages' information system.

7 years
of continuous collaboration since 2019
18 legacy websites merged into a single platform
4 domain names consolidated
125+ countries offered by the agency

Merging 18 websites is above all about losing nothing along the way, neither traffic nor content. Testing mattered as much as development.

Your questions about redesigning a travel website

What you need to know before launching a similar project, with the concrete example of what we built.

By grouping content on a single platform and preparing the migration page by page, so that organic traffic follows. This is what TCM did for Cercle des Voyages: 18 websites spread across 4 domain names, brought together on a single platform.

By starting from a centralised e-commerce platform, connected to the agency’s internal tools, and an interface designed to make people want to travel. For Cercle des Voyages, TCM co-created the UX/UI design in workshops and developed web services to the information system.
